While today the Winslows are an important pureblood family in Connecticut, this was not always the case. Although they can trace their roots back as far as anyone, they only achieved prominence when Howard Winslow I made the family fortune. He is revered amongst the family, and all first born sons of first born sons are named Howard. All Howard Winslows keep having children until they get a boy.

The Winslows are a very conservative clan. They are pureblood supremacists of the worst kind,believing a person's rights should depend on their blood. They are quick to disown any family member who does anything they consider the least bit disgraceful. They also believe women should be submissive to their husbands and children (especially girls) should be submissive to their fathers. They prize social status above all else.

Howard Winslow III, grandson of Howard I, is the current patriarch. His grandson, Howard V married Abigail Hopkins. They have three children, Annabelle, Charlotte and Howard VI.

Howard III's first cousin, Gloria married into the Royce family of Colorado. Gloria's daughter Claudia is the second wife of Adrian Brockert.
