Matthew Morgan
Description:
Matthew is rather tall and lanky with a rich, olive skin tone. His hair is sandy brown with golden hints. It is cut short and is usually spiked. Through his early years at Salem, he hits puberty therefore causing his voice to crack every once in a while (which embarrasses him to no end). He is also hitting a growth spurt which causes him to seem almost disproportionate, his legs and arms behind rather long and lanky. He has an almost French lilt in his voice although it is rarely recognizable. His jaw is strong and he has a cleft in his chin. His eyes are a light brown with amber hints. Although his cheeks still contains a bit of his younger self, his face is slimming in order to fit to his lanky yet trim body.
Personality:
Matthew has high ideals and sticks strictly to them. Finding school to be a bit of a waste, he'd rather spend his time practicing dueling or flying. He is extremely bright; although, he abhors having to apply himself. He is extremely ambitious and hopes to excel through life and attain a wonderful career. His nonchalant behavior, however, does not lessen his grades. He is still able to maintain a decent grade point average in order to please his overly demanding parents. As his father is an ambassador, he sometimes becomes restless remaining in one spot for an extended period of time due to the extensive traveling he has become accustomed to. He may sometimes appear standoffish and snooty due to his regal upbringing, although it soon becomes obvious that one must only get through the rough exterior to see who he truly is.
Family Life:
"Emotions are a person's weakness," Matthew's father had constantly told him. "If you remain aloof and distant, then you will always have the upper hand."
Although Matthew hadn't known the meaning of the word 'aloof', he had still been able to understand what his father was telling him. Never let a person see you when you are upset, they will always use them against you. And- his father had always done just that. In order to get him ready for the real world, of course.
The relationship between Matthew's father, one of the most illustrious ambassadors the wizarding world has seen in ages, could easily be described as stilted at best. Treating his son more like one of his business deals than his own flesh and blood, Matthew was brought up to be the perfect gentleman. Feelings had no place in his household. The only person Matthew could really turn to in times of turmoil was his mother. Although she was strict, she was still extremely loving and affectionate. She had always been the one he'd run to when things became unbearable. He'd run to her and fling his arms around her and cry about the fact that he hadn't gotten a spell just right or that he'd confused German for Hungarian.
She'd always been the one to placate him. She'd told him that she loved him and made everything better. Yes, she had scolded him when his robes became wrinkled and dirty, but she always managed to make it okay. She even told him that his father loved him, even if he didn't really know how to show it. Not that he believed her or anything.
Other Information:
As an Ambassador's son, Matthew was expected to know the protocols and correct procedures that accompanied such a position. Etiquette was of utmost importance. One must always offer one's seat to an elder, no exceptions. When eating, once the has been removed from the surface of the table, it should never under any circumstances find itself there once more. One must be excused before leaving a room and ask pardon profusely if even the smallest, most minuscule item is out of place. He had learned to ride- both broom as well as horse- not long after he had learned to walk.
His first tutor had arrived at that time's present manor almost immediately after he had learned to speak, instructing him in the languages of English, French, and German, then later Spanish, Italian and Hungarian. Being at such a young age, Matthew had found himself utterly confused. He found himself constantly mistaking one language for another, butchering all the languages. He could never quite remember which infinitive went with which clause, which adjective described a certain noun. One language slowly mingled into the other, confusing him so terribly that he had run to his mother on more than one occasion in tears.
