The Caravan

This branch of the family is more of a gypsy tribe than a standard family group. Most of them do not carry the Pierce name. They come in the forms of Tellermans, Andersons, Martinezes, Bakers, and more. Half have no magic. Many never attended formal schooling. Some have left the tribe to have normal lives but those that remain lead a nomadic existance.

Those with the Sight gamble. Those with musical talent sing or play in a band. Those who can perform simple tarot or crystal ball readings dress in gaudy clothes and tell fortunes for money. Those who can act perform. Those that remain act as agents, bookkeepers, and stage managers. Young children run errands, carry instruments, and learn which of the different trades they are most suited to. It's a business run from a caravan of minivans and RVs as much as it is a family.

Mostly, they book themselves with Rennaisance faires since they provide camping grounds, steady employment for several months at a time, and an assortment of jobs for all members of the family. They also favor folk festivals, though these rarely last more than a few days. When they can't line up a RenFaire or a Festival, they work carnivals, county and state fairs, and normal folk music venues like bars and coffee houses.

The family also dabbles in politics and activism. They have a lot of money and they make a lot of money but they spend very little of it on possessions. What they do spend goes to causes like saving the rainforest, protecting endangered magical creatures, cleaning up oil spills, lobbying for greater muggle awareness, donating to prominent magical schools to get the California Pierce name out where people will notice it, or funding political campaigns.
