Aracelis Chant, known more often by friends and coworkers as Celie, is a rather insignificant scion, relatively speaking, of the massive Chant family tree. Her father, Anfri, was born into the uber-conservative Yorktown Chants, of Yorktown, Virginia, but ideologically found himself more aligned with his blacksheep cousins, the Philadelphia Chants. He, therefore, had few qualms about marrying a Muggleborn witch. Celie, unfortunately, paid the price for her father's open-mindedness.

Celie, always a rather nervous girl, had upon graduation begun her training as a full Healer. Much to her chagrin, this training brought her to Virginia - and within reach of her father's vindictive family, who were still feeling the sting of Anfri's defection decades earlier. Upon the command of his father, the unofficial leader of the Yorktown Chants, her cousin Rufus - who was also apprenticed in the Healer program, though two years above Celie - began to make life a living hell for her. He sabotaged her potions and slipped her Wakefulness Serums the night before tests, causing her to fall asleep and fail; he stole her books and left her notes that, when read, promptly disappeared without a trace. Celie put up with it for almost a year before a particularly cruel prank left her seriously doubting her sanity; sobbing and distraught, she quit the Healer program and earned a more minor degree as a mediwitch, which brought her back to her alma mater, Salem.

Celie is currently twenty-six years old; she is petite and stands at a diminutive 5'2", has long brown hair, and green eyes. One of her closest friends it the famous young Healer Emrys Blacklock, who began the Healer program with her and, despite his issues with her less-than-pure blood, has maintained their friendship.
